The Way that Motion Video Games Work

Posted on 07 May 2011 by Janet Gaye Walker

Video games have always been popular with children and adults alike and now the most popular are the motion video games, such as the Kinect and the Nintendo Wii. These game consoles are always improving, but exactly, how they are able to change your movement into a movement on the screen?

Motion sensors are not yet perfect, which means that the games consoles always need to be improved. The sensors are not always able to pick up the tiniest of movements even though they are sometimes needed for a certain game. Motion sensors are able to send an electronic signal through the game, which then shows the movement on the screen.

Motion sensors use infrared detectors though infrared waves. These are not visible to the naked eye and they work on heat. Everything is able to generate heat, especially the human body. The sensors are able to pick up on the changes in the heat and then send the response to the motion video games. It is very similar to the way that burglar alarms set off an alarm when someone has entered. There are also sound wave detectors, which use microwaves rather than infrared motion detectors. The waves are constantly let out and nothing will move if the return pattern is just what was expected. However, once the pattern changes, an action will be triggered. Automatic doors operate to this very similar way.

However, video games use a new form of technology. This is an accelerometer, which uses computer chips within a controller. The chips are able to tell when there has been movement and what these movements have caused on the screen of the game. The movement is shown as accurately as possible on the screen but sometimes-smaller movements are not registered.

This type of technology was not originally design for motion video games. It if was not for the military, the computer chips would never have been invented. They were designed so that missiles could be guided from other locations. The chips were originally made a lot larger and were a lot more expensive but with the popularity of free motion games, it has become possible to shrink the chip size.

Soft Mod Your Wii In Some Easy Steps

Posted on 28 May 2010 by Donald Boyson

The simplest way to modd your wii is by softmodding it. Softmodding is using software instead of a modchip. Unlike modding using modchip, softmodding has several advantages:

- No need for a modchip, you can play downloaded games, it is safe and easy to install, maintains warranty, applicable in any wii, e.t.c.

You need to have the following to softmodd your wii:

(a) SD Card. The SD Card is necessary in order to play burned DVD. You can use any from either a camera or a phone, so long as its capacity is not above 2GB. Wii is not compatible with SD Card above 2GB (SDHC).

(b) DVD- Burner. Make sure that your pc has a DVD burner and a DVD-burning software installed. You may download a DVD-Burning application freely on-line. Alternatively, you’ll be able to use either an external harddisk or even a USB stick instead of DVDs.

(c) Unlocking software. You receive files after downloading, and you need to store them in the SD Card. You can only do this by first unlocking your wii.

(d) Internet connection on your wii.

Right after making sure that all that is needed is in place, you are now required to set up the Homebrew Channel. This is the channel you will go through whenever you play DVDs and games.

Start out by formatting the SD Card. Download all the required files then transfer the SD Card to your wii.

Go towards the wii button at below left. Press Data Management then press Save. Press wii. Delete savegame on the Zelda.

Press the SD Card and Twilight hack will show. Copy it to your nintendo wii system then start Zelda. Load your savegame. At this point follow the on-screen directions.

Wii softmod application is downloadable in zip files all over the www. The downloaded application is then placed on an SD memory card which is put into the Wii console. You will also find downloads for the old Nintendo games. You should note that these may not be correctly formatted to work with the new Wii.

Really should you wish to use a mod chip, then it might be fine provided that your Wii doesn’t fail to function properly or faces any kind of software errors later on. Once you have softmodded your Wii you can enjoy all of the benefits: playing downloaded games, creating your own backup games, being able to play the entire region coded imported games.
