Using Technology To Design Focus

Posted on 17 May 2011 by Eric James

Just one of the defining factors of trends in devices has not been technological innovations but design. Although people can argue that technology and design improvements move in conjunction, it is equally simple to see just how design rules consumer habits. Still, this is not anything new since industrial production allowed manufacturers to offer cheap products with the bonus on design instead of functionality. For example, the paper clothing of the 1960s were really cheap and arguably of a poor quality yet for lots of fashion conscience consumers they were items you needed to have in your wardrobe. This process continues today. Mobile phone builders continually play with the dichotomy of functionality vs design. Many designers choose simple designs and instead rely on features. Lots of others choose to provide fewer features and instead focus on design, at times collaborating with celebrities.

With such a attention given to design instead of functionality, it is easy to regard technology products as simply design orientated but it’s also good to not forget that such devices are meant to have functional benefits as well. When you are picking a product to buy there is always three elements that you need to think about – cost, design and features. At times you might wish to spend more for features and at other times for design. Other times functionality and design are incorporated. Apple’s product design ethos is an excellent example of design converging with technology.

If you always buy products based on their look then you should really start to consider the functional element as well. While it might be tempting to get the trendiest design, it may not be the best performing. You should really always consider the functionality of the product and how you will be using it. There is little point of purchasing a really flash computer if all you will be doing is sending emails with it or surfing the web.

Thus, when purchasing new products, always think about how or why you need it. An example of this is e-book readers, such as the Amazon Kindle. These have practical uses in real life. E.g., a lot of airlines now limit passengers to a single piece of luggage. An e-book reader is a lot smaller than your average book and you are able to take plenty more books with you on holiday.

Cell phones have greatly improved their technology features. You might be able to take your cell phone for all your entertainment needs. Many phones now have large memories allowing you to save videos, pictures and music. Lots of cell phones now have decent digital cameras too, meaning you don’t have to buy a separate, expensive camera. The Internet is not any different. Plenty of websites have been designed with functionality and usability in mind. You can now use sites which have been designed to allow you to manage your online time better. They span from a bookmarking service, password software and personalized homepage.

A bookmarks manager can really save you time and will change the way you work. Unfortunately, a lot of them have a basic design. It will be interesting to see how they develop over time as more and more people come to expect functionality that is displayed in a well designed and aesthetic product.

I am always a fan of Strength Training. So I started with muscle-toning exercises such as Leg lift, Squat, Lunge and more. Wii Fit offered Push-up challenge and it was quite fun. Choose Your Perfect Wii Fit Bundle

Posted on 04 August 2009 by Sue Calhoun

By buying a Wii Fit bundle, you’ll be getting virtually everything you want and need to start playing with your Wii right out of the box. A bundle usually includes the Wii Console, the Wii Fit, plus games and controllers for you and your family to start playing right away. It doesn’t hurt either that by buying a bundle, you’ll save money too, by paying less than the retail price for everything in your bundle package if bought separately.

For example, the retail prices for individual controllers, the Wii games, and other accessories, can run as high as 25-30% more than what you’ll pay when buying a bundle online.

Which brings us to the next question – where can you get the best deal on a Wii Fit system? Online is really the best place to buy. There is much more competition, which means better prices for you. In addition, you can find incredible selection from dozens or hundreds of sellers if you check out sites like eBay for auctions.

While the big online stores like Amazon or Wal-Mart also sell Wii on their websites, their selection is much more limited, and in the case of Amazon, are listing deals from outside sellers – they are not selling directly from their own warehouse.

Stop at a few different sites to compare prices and the combinations of systems to see what’s available. You will quickly get a good idea of what is included in bundles, what’s part of each system, so you can get exactly what you want.

As an example of what is included in some bundles are up four controllers; one or more games like Wii Sports or Jillian Michaels, and the Wii console is always part of a bundle, along with the Fit balance board. with so many listings available to choose from, it’s a sure thing you’ll find the Wii Fit bundle that’s right for you.

You might have heard some hard core gamers saying the Nintendo Wii console is over, nothing left to look forward to. They argue that everyone has already bought one, and the “serious” gamers will never play the Wii, so who else is left? What other reason to buy? Yet the Nintendo Wii phenomenon is far from over, and appeals more than ever to non-gamers, adults, kids and even seniors.

You can find dozens of excellent reasons to own a Wii console. First, it’s so simple to get it set up, by plugging in a few cables, and position the remote sensor, and off you go. It’s also a breeze to play even for the youngest kids. Games range from very simple like Mario Party 8, for the kids, up to more involved challenges like Zelda Twilight Princess.

So, you don’t have to be an expert, or a serious gamer, or even a parent to want the Wii and have a lot of fun with it. There’s also the Nintendo Wii Fit, with its balance board, that lets you do yoga, strength exercises, keep on a weight loss program, and track your progress. There are also new games coming out like EA Sports Active that will challenge just about anyone, gamer or not.

Not only does the Wii have these accessible features for everyone, Nintendo is keeping up the innovation with new accessories and plans for future consoles. Newly released is the Wii MotionPlus, a new accessory to make the Wii motion-sensitive controller even more reactive and fine tuned to every movement. To take advantage of the MotionPlus, a new release of Wii Sports, called Wii Sports Resort, has been released too.

For anyone still thinking about buying a console, take a look at the new Wii Fit bundles which include the console packaged with the Sports Resort game and the MotionPlus. There are also bundles which include the console and any other type of game you can think of, kids games, sports games, even Mario Kart for Wii along with extra steering wheels.
