Soft Mod Your Wii In Some Easy Steps

Posted on 28 May 2010 by Donald Boyson

The simplest way to modd your wii is by softmodding it. Softmodding is using software instead of a modchip. Unlike modding using modchip, softmodding has several advantages:

- No need for a modchip, you can play downloaded games, it is safe and easy to install, maintains warranty, applicable in any wii, e.t.c.

You need to have the following to softmodd your wii:

(a) SD Card. The SD Card is necessary in order to play burned DVD. You can use any from either a camera or a phone, so long as its capacity is not above 2GB. Wii is not compatible with SD Card above 2GB (SDHC).

(b) DVD- Burner. Make sure that your pc has a DVD burner and a DVD-burning software installed. You may download a DVD-Burning application freely on-line. Alternatively, you’ll be able to use either an external harddisk or even a USB stick instead of DVDs.

(c) Unlocking software. You receive files after downloading, and you need to store them in the SD Card. You can only do this by first unlocking your wii.

(d) Internet connection on your wii.

Right after making sure that all that is needed is in place, you are now required to set up the Homebrew Channel. This is the channel you will go through whenever you play DVDs and games.

Start out by formatting the SD Card. Download all the required files then transfer the SD Card to your wii.

Go towards the wii button at below left. Press Data Management then press Save. Press wii. Delete savegame on the Zelda.

Press the SD Card and Twilight hack will show. Copy it to your nintendo wii system then start Zelda. Load your savegame. At this point follow the on-screen directions.

Wii softmod application is downloadable in zip files all over the www. The downloaded application is then placed on an SD memory card which is put into the Wii console. You will also find downloads for the old Nintendo games. You should note that these may not be correctly formatted to work with the new Wii.

Really should you wish to use a mod chip, then it might be fine provided that your Wii doesn’t fail to function properly or faces any kind of software errors later on. Once you have softmodded your Wii you can enjoy all of the benefits: playing downloaded games, creating your own backup games, being able to play the entire region coded imported games.

How To Mod Wii

Posted on 07 January 2010 by Dana Goldberg

You might be among the millions and millions of people that own a Nintendo Wii. What you might not have known is that these consoles can be modified or reconfigured to perform tasks they weren’t originally created to accomplish. Mod Wii, is the term you would use if your system has been modified.

The majority of these millions of owners do not modify their consoles. There is a lot of risk involved. So if you are thinking about attempting this you have to be aware of two of the worst case scenarios. The first is that you, through inexperience and poor planning ruin your console completely. Secondly, should Nintendo learn of a modification (as they likely would from you sending it in) it would void the warranty.

Should you be someone that knows what they are doing, than you could probably take advantage of these mods. If you aren’t completely aware of the detailed process, I recommend you reading into it thoroughly before attempting anything on your Wii.

If you look into them, there are two main modifications being done to Wiis. Granted, there are likely more than this, but these are the two most common. The emulator is the top mod. This program allows you to burn Wii games, Wii channels, Wii Ware, or other Nintendo/Sega console titles onto a DVD+R and play them in your console.

The second mod allows you to watch DVDs on your console. This is popular because the Wii is the only high selling gaming system right now that doesn’t have this capability. Not only are you then able to watch regular DVDs, you can also watch burned DVD files and the like. No high def movies though, at least not yet.

You will find through a little bit of research that there are many more modifications you can do to your console. Remember though, get all the details for the mod, and take your time. Otherwise, you might end up with a ruined console and nothing you can do about it.

Using the new softmod wii is easy! You can get all of the pieces you need for your mod wii whenever you need them.
