How To Get Paid To Play Video Games

Posted on 24 December 2009 by Josh Whitten

There are many video game lovers in the world. If you’re one of them, you may have wondered if it’s possible to get paid to play video games. It is, in fact! It may sound too good to be true, but there are jobs out there where you get paid to play games all day as well as other related opportunities. But don’t think it’s so easy that anyone can do it.

When you become a paid gamer, your hobby becomes your job. A first step to getting your foot in the door in this industry is to become a beta tester. As a beta tester, you will get to play unreleased games so that you can find any glitches, errors or bugs in the game. The creators of the game will take your findings and tweak the game so that it is ready for launch. As a beta tester, you will gain valuable experience, you may get to keep the game and you may even get paid for your time, but not always.

If you’re serious about earning real money playing video games, you should consider attending a technical school such as ITT or Devry and submitting your resumes to top video game production companies. There are other ways to potentially get paid to play video games as well.

You can enter a tournament and play for money. Video game tournaments are hugely popular world-wide and many have cash prizes. Some of the downsides to this are the travel expenses involved, the possible entry fees and the fact that you walk away with nothing if you do not win. The gamers who win tournaments spend hours practicing to ensure that they are virtually unbeatable.

Still another option in getting paid to play is to become a video game reviewer. You can provide video game reviews for websites, magazine and other publications. When you become a video game reviewer you test out games before they launch or when they first come out, depending on your employer and you write detailed reviews about the game.

These reviews should include things like the story of the game, the characters involved, the graphics, the controls or other pertinent information. If you’re going to become a video game reviewer you must be absolutely passionate about playing video games, not mind playing for long hours, and possess at least basic writing skills. But, yes, it is indeed possible to get paid to play video games.

Electonic Game Modders Live for Wii Modchips

Posted on 11 October 2009 by Wii Modchips

WiiModchip are basically an electronic device. They have been best popularized for electronic game consoles – be they Xbox , Xbox360 , PS3 or currently most popularly- the Nintendo Wii and Wii DS / DS Lite. The main purpose of it is to change the various restrictions of the wii. The most famous use of it is in modifying the DVD drives. It allows users to make copies of software and would help them to use in other systems.

Previously , the way it came out the factory from Nintendo was the way the Wii stayed. Of course was the standard mandatory label affixed to most electronic , computer and electronic gaming devices and appliances “Device has no user fixable components inside”. The problem was for fanatical gamers , this was true. Initially Nintendo Wii’s could not be altered or “upgraded” in any way. What a shame – well at least to the nutcase gamers.

What has made Wii modding with these modchips is the advances in install procedures and tactics. It used to be that actual soldering onto the electronics board of the gaming electronic circuit board was the only means of completing the procedure. Enter simple “solder less” modding. Its simply a matter of pull out and replace in or simply insert the purchased modchip directly onto the board or Wii components itself. Simple as pie.

Now its a simple case of no fuss , no muss. Previously there were complaints about upgrading or modding Wii devices. Since it was a much more complex and staid procedure , often involving the cost of shipping , with inherent loss along the way – to highly specialized practitioners and technical experts – many stayed away from modding their devices – no matter what competitive edge it gave them in the competitive world of online gaming.

Argon wii is a chip that is based on the actel system. It is programmable by using a JTAG connector. But it has to be used in conjunction with injectus programmer. An upgrade is expected in few years. It is expected to help in providing easy up gradation of modchips through DVD.

Its downright amazing what comes out of that little Wii box. Sure there are other platforms for gaming. Yet Nintendo always seems to be the company that brings high quality gaming devices to the consumer at mass market prices , and in the end can be said to dominate the market through its adept combination’s of product , pricing and merchandising. Nintendo can be said to be the “Henry Ford’ of computer gaming – just like Commodore was to computers with its Commodore 64 and 128 computer lines. Many people who may never have taken up computer gaming have entered as avid enthusiasts with their entry level platform of the Nintendo Wii. With an estimated 10.9 Wii console gaming units being sold alone in the US , there will be no shortage of Wii consoles to modify .

Wii Modchips Explained

Posted on 06 October 2009 by Wii Modchips

You may of heard discussions among “hardcore” online and computer gaming types of modchips and especially among diehard Wii fans of “Wii Modchips”. Just what are these electronic devices and what are their roles and functions – at least in relation to these gaming nutcases and their fascinations and pleasures ?

In the past it was widely believed that modding could be done only in the hardware but in the recent past there have been devices that have successfully modified even soft wares.

You may well of heard cautionary tales that it is best to leave well enough alone . Don’t touch your Wii. So and so tried to mod his Wii or WiiDS Lite and was “bricked”. End of online gaming career with his Nintendo Wii. Luckily today this is a myth – for the misinformed. With today’s advanced , yet simple to install Wii Modchips – all so easy with their solderless design and solder-less install designs and setups its as easy as 1,2 3, even for rank electronic component installation technical novices.

True you could upgade the “Argon Wii Modchips”. Yet it took risk , and a fair amount of expertise to complete the upgrading via a JTAG programmer in conjunction with a good knowledge of the use and procedures of injectus programmers. Hopefully in the not too near future this whole process will be made easier and simplified , just as solderless modchip installs have revolutionized and made Wii upgrades a piece of cake for the average if not beginner electronic gamer.
