Since they first appeared on the Play Station 2 in 2002, Ratchet and Clank have been the stars of some of the most popular games in Play Station history. The franchise has seen 7 Ratchet and Clank titles released between the Play Station 2, Play Station Portable, and now the Play Station 3. There have also been games starring Ratchet by himself, and Clank by himself.

The latest release in the Ratchet and Clank franchise is Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, for the Play Station 3. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time is a sequel to the first Ratchet and Clank game for the Play Station 3, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. The story in A Crack In Time picks up where Tools of Destruction left off, and answers many of the biggest unanswered questions from the entire Ratchet and Crank franchise. If you are already a fan of this franchise, then this game is a must.

The Ratchet and Clank franchise is well known for its outstanding game play, well developed characters, boards, and especially the great weapons. On the levels where you are Ratchet the focus is on exploring and action, while the Clank boards present challenging puzzles that must be solved using Clank’s unique abilities.

A New Chapter For One Of The Most Popular Final Fantasy Titles

Posted on 19 November 2009 by Patrick Daniels

Final Fantasy VII (FFVII) is by far one of the most popular Final Fantasy titles ever. Anyone who had the pleasure of playing this game on the original Play Station has been waiting for Square Enix to release a sequel. In order to please the fans there was a computer animated movie released in 2005, FFVII: Advent Children, which was a sequel to the game, but there has never been another FFVII game, until now.

Square Enix has finally answered the call of Final Fantasy VII fans, somewhat. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is a new game for the Play Station Portable, but it is not a sequel to Final Fantasy VII, it is a prequel. If you are a fan of Final Fantasy VII, I am sure you know have many questions about the game, for instance is it good, how is the quality on the Play Station Portable, how is the story connected? Rest assured, your questions will be answered.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has received outstanding reviews from gamers and critics. The graphics and game play on the Play Station Portable are also terrific. Whether you are a hardcore fan of the original Final Fantasy VII, or are new to the Final Fantasy franchise, you will soon become immersed in the world, and enthralled by the excellent story. If you have a Play Station Portable this is definitely a title that is worth picking up, and if you are a Final Fantasy fan it is a must own.

It is not your traditional RPG. There is no level grinding and it is not turned based. You only play with one character at a time, Zack, the unknown hero form Final Fantasy VII. Without giving too much away of the story, there are plenty of returning characters and everybody’s favorite bad boy-Sepheroth. The story revolves around Zack and even though those of us who played the original game know exactly how this new game will end, even though it is heartbreaking and we dread the end, the way it comes about is unknown and surprising. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way.

This is an outstanding game that will help provide additional details about the events leading up to the original Final Fantasy VII. The only complaint about this game is that the process to increase your characters level is random, and not as fully developed as some of the other Final Fantasy titles. Aside from that one issue this is a great game that will you enjoy playing for many hours.

The gaming world has taking over the entertainment department in many peoples lives. Whether you are a Sony fan or a Nintendo fan you should go to www.cdwow.com. They offer a wide gaming selection from new ps3 games to the best ds games around.

True Legendary Artists Of All Time

Posted on 10 November 2009 by Patrick Daniels

For decades fans have debated who is the greatest rock band of all time. Despite what some of today’s youth may believe, the vast majority of bands who should even be considered in this discussion were first introduced in the’60s and’70s, and many of them were part of the British invasion. When you talk about the greatest rock bands ever some of the most common bands in the discussion are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, AC/DC and The Byrds. In the end, though, the debate always comes down to the big two, The Beatles vs. The Stones.

Die hard fans of The Beatles cannot be diehard fans of the Rolling Stones, and vice versa. Both bands have been tremendously successful, selling millions of albums, and having numerous hit singles. Both bands music have also thrived over the past 40 years, withstanding the test of time. Perhaps it is because the styles of music are so different that people are so divided, but fans of either one cannot deny the success of the other.

No one can deny that the Rolling Stones are great. They have a lot of excellent songs in their catalog, with the majority of their hit being written before’70. This is not to say that they never had a great song after’70, but they were few and far between.

In the’60s The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were every where, from the radio to the Ed Sullivan show, from a 45 in the living room to the some of the largest concert venues in the world. The Beatles performed more of a pop rock style of music in their early albums, and then progressed to a more complex, and eclectic sound after they spent time in India, and also grew in their own personal lives. The Rolling Stones were influenced by early American rock, primarily by African-American artists, as well as blues and jazz. The styles of music created by these two iconic bands differed greatly, but both continue to be extremely successful.

The Beatles broke up in the early’70s, just before the release of Abbey Road. The Rolling Stones are still together today, creating albums and touring world wide. An argument could be made that The Beatles made the right choice to get out while they were on top. An argument could also be made that since the Rolling Stones have remained together for so long that they are the better band. So which side of the debate do you fall on? As for me, I believe “you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find, you get what you need”.

The Autobots vs. the Decepticons, Back on DVD

Posted on 30 October 2009 by Patrick Daniels

After the financial success of Michael Bay’s first Transformers movie there was never a doubt that Dreamworks was going to follow it up with a sequel. After a successful run at movie theaters this summer, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is now available on Blu-ray and DVD. The movie is filled with even more action and explosions then the first enstallment, and more tranforming robots. As for the quality of the film, it is pretty much at the same level of the first movie, it will not be winning any best picture awards, but if you are looking for mindless fun and action then it is right up your alley.

All of the stars from the first movie are back. John Turturro, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson all reprise their roles from the first Trnasformers movie, and all do a servicable job considering they often have to interact with their CGI co-stars. Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen was directed by Michael Bay, who also directed the original. Bay’s passion for big action movies and large explosions can again be seen throughout the movie.

Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen may not be as suitable for younger children as the first Transformers movie was. There are several scenes where both robots and humans use profain language, and their are also several scenes that are sexually suggestive. The movie is rated PG-13, so if you have children under 13 who want to see the movie you probably should watch it first and then decide if it is appropriate for your kids.

The plot of the movie feels a little forced, and doesn’t make much sense, but again, this should be expected when going to see a movie like this. If you are looking for a fun summer action movie then Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a great choice, if you are looking for an intellegent, thought provoking film then you should probably take this movie out of your shopping cart. Both the 2 disc DVD and Blu-ray versions of the movies come with great extras including making of specials and deleted scenes. The Blu-ray version also comes with a digital copy of the movie that you can watch on your computer or other handheld devices.

Despite the fact that this story is not as good as the first, Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen is still a great action movie that is worth the ride. The movie did extremely well at the box office, as did the first Transformers, which has already guaranteed that Transformers 3 will be in a theater near you in the not too distant future. In the meantime enjoy Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen on DVD, and hold on for the ride.

A Quirky Kind Of Funny

Posted on 26 October 2009 by Patrick Daniels

Will Ferrell stars in this movie remake of the seventies classic TV show, The Land of the Lost. While it has some similarities to the classic show, Will and the gang put a different spin on the humor and the high jinks. Ferrell stars as Dr. Rick Marshall, a scientist that believes that time travel is possible and he wants to prove it.

Since many of the scientists, that work with Dr. Marshall, do not believe in the prospect of time travel, he is literally laughed out of his profession. Dr. Marshal then takes on a position in a middle school as a science teacher. While working as a teacher he meets Holly, and they become instant friends. Holly is behind Dr. Marshall’s idea of time travel and continues to encourage him to complete his work.

One night, after Dr. Marshall and Holly have gone on an eating binge, they decide to take the time travel device to a cave located in the desert. This cave happened to be a tourist trap run by Will, a flea market fireworks salesman. When Dr. Marshall tries the machine the three are launched into a completely different time dimension, complete with bizarre insects, lizard people, monkey people and a man eating dinosaur. The dinosaur and Dr. Marshall are instant foes and gives us one of the funniest on going gag throughout the film.

After the group arrives they meet a monkey person, by the name of Chaka that assists the group in finding their lost time travel device. The group will need this device in order to return home, however finding it turns out to be a more difficult task them expected. During their search they are faced with multiple hazardous situations.

While not the best movie of the summer, or Ferrell’s best work, I think that Elf was his best, this movie is fun and entertaining. McBride and Chaka provide some of the best laughs in the film and Ferrell does his best adolescent-grown-up routine. The special effect and CGI are good and show the wonder of the new world well. The lizard people are a little campy and cheesy, but I think that it is in homage to the classic show. There are a few extras on the disc worth checking out and anything that Ferrell puts any effort into is funny and silly. Though not the blockbuster they were hoping for, this is a pretty fun movie. It deserves its PG-13 rating and is definitely not for the younger viewers because of some of the references and language.
