NHL Slapshot

Posted on 09 November 2010 by Marcus Fei

We wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the hottest game of the year, but NHL Slapshot is definitely one of the top choices. There are several video games that hit stores in 2010, and some are still waiting for their release date. Now that the NHL season is upon us, the enthusiastic fans and gamers out there are looking for the next big option. Well, NHL Slapshot offers you the opportunity to hit a virtual puck just like you would in the middle of any major hockey arena.

With this version of NHL Slapshot you get to use a special hockey stick that is an add-on to the game. This device is a breeze to put together. You don’t even have to watch the little video clip at the beginning of the game that shows you how the parts snap into place; you can figure it out on your own.

There is an annoying problem with the use of the hockey sticks that are designed to accompany these video games. Whenever you need to navigate among the different Wii menus you have to detach the Wii Remote from the holder first. For those game enthusiasts who already have additional Wii controllers this will not present a problem at all. If there is only one Wii hand held controller in your home this annoyance can quickly turn into a major aggravation.

You can counteract this irritation by getting the hockey stick add-on. If you don’t want to spend the money then duct taping a miniaturized hockey stick is another possibility. When it comes down to video games like NHL Slapshot, you have to figure out what is the best option for you. The standard add-on is made from foam, which is a safety precaution, but something to remember during gameplay.

Another important thing to consider is that anyone playing these video games will need to wear the wrist strap. This way when you’re using a snapping motion, the likelihood of hurting yourself during a long game will be minimized. We all know nintendo wii games have some realistic motions, and when it comes to NHL Slapshot there are plenty of them. It just adds to the excitement that this particular game offers. So don’t forget to use the same types of grips and motions hockey players use.

In order to use these types of motions they should be identical to what the real players do in the NHL. Even when you’re cross-checking it’s important to move the same way when making a defensive play. You will also notice that video games like NHL Slapshot will keep you on your feet during the duration of the game. You’re going to have to be fast, accurate, and determined to take the puck down the ice.

NHL Slapshot is one of the video games that features a variety of playing modes. With the Career mode you can begin as a Pee Wee player and then move on to Bantam leagues. Next you will need to master the Junior league before you qualify for an online career as a professional NHL player. This is the longest style of playing mode and it may be too time consuming to hold the interest of kids who are younger than 10-12. The Play Now option and the mini-games both teach players what to do and where to go while keeping the game fast paced and interesting. These modes of play are just for a single player and there are even arrows that appear on the screen that will direct you to the correct playing position.

This new NHL Slapshot is created so that players will appreciate how these video games are designed to blend smoothly with the Wii gaming experience. You will discover that this is one of the video games where the action takes place smoothly and precisely just as it does when those great slapshots are being slammed home by the NHL hockey stars. NHL Slapshot has made it possible for players at all levels to enjoy the game and this is a perfect game for parents to have on hand when they want to challenge their kids to an at-home sporting event. Even if you have forgotten how to balance on ice skates you can still whip that wicked slapshot across the rink and get it past that formidable goalie.

Posted on 26 June 2009 by Sue Calhoun

It seems the Wii console is everywhere, with lot of people buying the Nintendo Wii to play with family or friends. The Wii Fit accessory helped accelerate the console sales appealing to users other than just gamers and kids. Can the Nintendo Wii game system hold its own?

Nintendo has released or will be releasing plenty of new stuff. One big release was in May 2009 of the new Wii MotionPlus accessory. This accessory adds better control to the Wii’s motion-sensitive controller, so playing games is more accurate. Players can improve their play in things like golf and tennis, as well as battle games. To take advantage of the MotionPlus, a new version of Wii Sports is out, caled Wii Sports Resort.

There is also a new sports bundle available using the new Sports Resort game and including the MotionPlus. Many of the new games are bundled with a console, since new users may not have purchased the console yet, but are motivated to do so with the new game releases.

Something Nintendo still has in development is the “vitality sensor”, which is going to be a fingertip sensor which clips on your finger, and then reads your bio-rhythms with a light sensor. The idea is that this sensor will read your brain waves, giving you a biofeedback experience. Could Meditation for Wii be far behind? think of the uses: Teachers could use this in class to help students with focus, improve attention and other benefits. Anyone could use it at home to lower blood pressure., the possiilities are endless, if it works! This is theoretically to be released in 2010.

Nintendo keeps attracting plenty of non-gamers to its console, with new games and fun for anyone, not just gamers. The perfect example is the Wii Fit which was huge for Nintendo, and helps anyone of any age start and maintain a fitness program using the balance board to work out, track progress, and build workout routines.

Nintendo and its game partners are releasing more sports games too, which means Wii Sports bundles will have great options for games and accessories. Two new ones are Virtua Tennis from Sega and Grand Slam Tennis from EA Sports. Grand Slam Tennis takes advantage of the new MotionPlus.

Also just look at the new release, EA Sports Active, which gives users a sensor pad to help track body movements while running in place or doing other exercises. These are the kinds of new games and accessories that are going to keep the Wii console in the top of all game systems.
